48 years of service celebrated!
The 11th of March 2016 marked a significant milestone in one of AMCAP’s long serving, loyal employees. Holden Parts Interpreter, Gary Francis’, uniquely celebrated his 48th year at AMCAP and his 65th birthday on the same day.
Gary started working for the company long before it was known as AMCAP, back on his 17th birthday at City Motors. Starting out in the warehouse picking parts for customer orders, Gary was quickly promoted to the front service counter. He then moved to the phone room where he spent the majority of his working life honing his Parts Interpreter (PI) skills to be one of the most knowledgeable Holden PI’s in WA.
“The love of Holden cars runs in my family, starting with my father who worked for City Motors Scarborough / North City Holden. It was Dad who arranged my interview which resulted in securing my first job” said Gary.
Throughout his 48 year career, Gary was a part of the transformation of City Motors Parts to AMCAP Welshpool in 1980 where Gary remained as a PI. Over the course of this time, Gary relocated with the company from City Motors in West Perth to the John Hughes building in Welshpool Road, then to Kewdale, back to Welshpool and now in the current premises located in Pilbara Road, Welshpool.
“I have seen many changes over the years and note the most significant as when there were five major distributors in the early days and today AMCAP is proudly the sole distributor of Holden parts,” Gary said.
Sadly, Gary’s leaving the AMCAP family at the end of June to renovate his family home in Ferndale of 40 years before embarking on well-deserved overseas travel.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to work for the one company for my whole career and for the many friendships I’ve made.”
Gary has been a real asset to AMCAP since he joined the company 48 years ago contributing skills, time, ideas, energy, and loyalty. Heartfelt congratulations go to Gary on his upcoming retirement.
