Red Hot Racing update
The motor racing season is in full swing with AMCAP’s Veronica McCann competing in the Pro Dirt Late Model series in the #16 AMCAP Distribution Centre, Perth Signs & Printing BWRC.
During the season Veronica took part in the Perth Motoplex Speedfest by pleasing the crowd with a demo of what her Late Model is capable of and displaying the vehicle amongst the range of F1, FMX, MX, speedway, superbikes, drift, drags and rally cars at the event.
Over the course of the season, Red Hot Racing has worked their way up the grid and managed to get off to a strong start in the Australian Title race held on 23 January. Unfortunately, during the second heat, #16 was involved a serious incident which saw the leaders spin and collide with #16 resulting in a torn chassis.
A collective sigh of relief was felt by the whole team when their specialist repairer was able to fix the chassis damage ensuring that #16 can compete in the remaining race rounds taking place in March and April.
Best of luck for the rest of the season!
Skipper team welcomes Vin Brown
AMCAP would like to welcome Vin Brown to the Skipper Transport Parts division, based in our Victorian branch.
Vin is no stranger to the truck and trailer business having previously worked as National Fleet Parts Manager reporting to Mike Marmo, Skipper Division Manager, at Iveco. During his time at IVECO, Vin successfully developed a National Fleet Parts Program into a major contributing factor to the overall parts business. Vin joins us at a time when the Skipper business is expanding and AMCAP is looking to explore new prospects in the transport parts industry.
As Business Development Manager, Vin is responsible for identifying new market opportunities for existing transport parts products and sourcing new products to add value to the Skipper brand across the growing national business. With more than 40 years’ experience in the parts industry, focusing on truck, trailer and consumables at International/Iveco, K&S Freighter and Maxi Parts, Vin’s significant expertise backed by a strong marketing and sales background will provide a strong addition to the existing team.
Born and bred in Victoria, Vin is married with four children and one grandchild. “Now that the kids are all grown up, I enjoy socialising with my wife, surfing and playing football with the Mornington Peninsular Raiders – it’s my adrenalin rush!”, Vin said.
Fun fact about Vin. He played Super Rules Football with the Victorian state team at the end of year State of Origin carnivals and has been awarded All Australian on six occasions, and twice won best and fairest in the carnival, once in the over 60’s. Did we just give Vin’s age away?!
5 Challenges of Managing your Company’s Distribution
Having your own business comes with many pros and cons, you get to work hard and build your empire while reaping the rewards. However, one thing all business owners can agree on is the amount of stress that owning your own company comes with. This is especially prevalent for businesses where sales and delivery are the focus. There are many challenges you have to deal with when handling your own distribution, which is why it is recommended that you hire a professional distribution company to take care of everything.
Here are 5 common difficulties companies encounter:
You can minimise the amount of communication channels by hiring a specialist distribution company. Take into account the marketing and selling of a product, the client and the delivery, and you’ll realise that there are many different channels where communication can be hindered. There may be a time difference, language barriers, technological impairments or simple human error that can be the cause of a message not being delivered correctly or accurately. By cutting out some of the channels, you smooth out the communication process.
If you’re handling your own distribution, do you own your own warehouse? If so, is there sufficient space to allow for expansion or increased demand should the need arise? You also need to consider the security factor. You will always worry about whether your goods are safe, and the perfect way to minimise this stress is to use a distribution company that has ample secure warehousing with 24-hour monitoring.
Dealing with delivery admin can be a huge problem. Capturing client data and managing a courier company or your own vehicles will cause more stress than peace of mind. You can save money and be known for a more efficient service if you hand this facet of your distribution over to a company that has a streamlined process already in place.
Keeping abreast of inventory
Unless you have an excellent inventory management system that only requires the time of a few employees, you are wasting time and money. In the day-to-day operation of your business, it is imperative that you maximise your resources, which in turn, maximises your profits.
With every part of your business, you are responsible for taking care of all documentation and captured data. Whether the information is in a digital format or a physical printed format, keeping track of documentation and files just clutter your brain and add to the pile of admin you already have to deal with.
Face it… these are challenges you could do without.
