GEM 2.0 Program Success!

August 2, 2023

We planted 945 trees! Via AMCAP’s GEM 2.0 Program, several staff members took two hours out of their working day to assist with planting a variety of natives at SERCUL (South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare) on Tuesday 1st August 2023.

SERCUL, is an incorporated, independent community environmental organisation, that undertakes on-ground activities to improve the health of the catchments including revegetation, river restoration, water quality monitoring, fauna surveying and community environmental education.
SERCUL assisted our GEM Committee members in arranging for our staff to be a part of this ongoing infill planting project near Yule Brook and Canning River.

Staff were given a short introduction to the project, including identifying hazards that might be encountered whilst on site and were given a demonstration of how to plant. Participants then had the opportunity to get stuck into planting. The feedback was positive and pre-digging made for an ergonomic planting experience.
